What is the dress code for the Oaks Day Marquees?
According to the VRC website:
This is possibly the most important question of the Melbourne Cup Carnival! We highly recommend that you take a look at the fashion and style section of the website for inspiration. There are also recommended designers and milliners on our website to assist you in preparing for the big event.
Members and visitors to Members’ areas must abide by the dress regulations as outlined on the Victoria Racing Club’s website.
We recommend that all who attend Flemington use these dress regulations as a guideline.
What time can we access the marquee? What time does it finish?

How can I get to and from Flemington?
Mercury Principle Events provide a bus service from the CBD to Flemington and return each day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival for our clients at an additional cost of $20pp
Trains to the racecourse depart from Flinders Street Station (Platforms 8 & 9) and Southern Cross Station (Platform 14) during the peak periods approximately every four minutes. For further enquiries contact Metlink on 131 638 or www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au
Trams(No.57) depart from the corner of Elizabeth Street and Flinders Street. The tram stops at the main gates on Epsom Road.
Taxis are able to access the track for drop off at the Winning Post and Home Straight enclosures. They are to enter off Smithfield Road via the tunnel, on race day mornings. There will not be a taxi rank operating at these enclosures at the end of the day. Only taxis that have been pre booked for pick up will be able to access the centre of the track therefore we strongly suggest arranging return transport.
Etihad Stadium offer Park & Ride providing undercover parking at Etihad Stadium on all four days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival. Patrons can then walk across to Southern Cross Station (Platform 14) to catch a train to Flemington.
